Cook, you could go classic with the flavours of a traditional omelette. But why not elevate your omelette with a twist and try cooking up this dish with chopsticks and some jaw-dropping dexterity? Bring out your pan, beat the eggs, and twist your tornado omelette. This is how you master a memorable breakfast, brunch, or lunch, and cook up a storm. It starts right here.

Method

1
Beat eggs until well combined. Dissolve the cornflour in a small bowl with a tablespoon of water and mix it into the eggs with salt. Leave them to settle for 10 minutes.
2
Melt butter in a non-stick frying pan. Pour in the egg mixture and wait 15 seconds for the bottom to set.
3
Get the chopsticks and drag two sides of the omelette into the centre. Keep the chopsticks still and with your other hand, turn the panhandle. This will twist the omelette into a tornado shape. Leave for another 30 seconds for the omelette to set. Let the top be a little runny, so the omelette will be soft when serving as it will continue to set after you remove it from the heat.
4
Serve right away.

Crack those eggs and make a showstopping tornado omelette

Whip up a beautiful showstopper for breakfast: the popular, extraordinary tornado omelette. With an eye-catching expression, this tornado omelette recipe takes a simple omelette to another level, showcasing the same flavour and texture but twisted and swirled to an almost unrecognisable shape. It was invented in Korean cuisine, traditionally with chopsticks used to make the twisted shape. So, cook, melt some butter, and start cooking a delicious Korean tornado omelette.

Beautiful and tasty for breakfast, brunch, and lunch

Eggs are so versatile, making them delicious for a cracking good breakfast, brunch, and lunch. On its own, one tornado omelette is perfect as a quick and light breakfast but serve it the right way and you get a deliciously filling lunch or the perfect addition to a brunch table. A traditional Korean tornado omelette is often served on a bed of rice, a classic combination in Asian cuisine. Eggs complement the rice beautifully with an irresistible balance between fluffy eggs and soft, slightly sticky rice, creating a delicious contrast in each bite. Staying in Asian cuisine, rice is also perfect for soaking up any sauce if you serve your Korean tornado omelette with, for example, soy sauce or spicy sauce.

For brunch, serve the tornado omelette on top of an open-faced salmon sandwich; for lunch, serve it with butter-roasted herb potatoes. Alternatively, stay with the Asian cuisine's tradition of serving eggs with savoury dishes, and try this soy-fried salmon or chicken stir-fry in hoisin sauce. You can also serve it with crusted bread or grilled vegetables to keep it as the centrepiece while still complementing with different side dishes.

Make a tornado omelette − classic flavours in a new, innovative disguise

You can never go wrong with a classic omelette. Its softness and fluffiness are heavenly, and the mild egg flavour makes it a delightful choice for an easy breakfast, brunch, or lunch. But why stick to the classics? This easy tornado omelette puts a new and innovative spin on the classic version, keeping with traditions regarding ingredients and flavours, but experimenting with the looks. This stunning version gives you the same flavour and soft, airy and moist texture, but is made and served with eye-catching splendour. It makes for an impressive dish whether you serve it for breakfast, lunch, or brunch.

Go for great with additional ingredients

Although known for its simplicity, you can easily shake things up by adding other ingredients to your tornado omelette. Just be careful not to add too many ingredients as it might make it harder to create the tornado shape. An easy variation is using different fresh herbs like parsley or chives or spices like turmeric, paprika, or cayenne pepper to add a bit of heat.

Add a small amount of grated cheddar or mozzarella or crushed feta or salad cheese to the egg mixture to make it creamier with a cheesy touch. It will melt as you cook the eggs, creating a delicious variation with a touch of cheese both in terms of flavour and texture. You can also add ½-1 tbsp of butter to enhance the flavour with a touch of richness. Melt it gently, let it cool slightly, then whisk it into the egg mixture and prepare the tornado omelette as usual.

Be careful not to use too much cheese or butter as it might make it too heavy and cause the shape to fall in on itself.
