Spinach Fatayer

For the dough:

3 cups flour

½ cup LURPAK® Unsalted Butter, melted

½ tsp instant yeast

1 cup water

½ tsp salt

½ tsp sugar

For the Spinach filling:

2 tbsp LURPAK® Unsalted Butter

1 medium onion, chopped

4 cups fresh spinach, chopped

2 tsp sumac

1 tsp paprika

½ tsp salt

½ tsp black pepper

Spinach Fatayer

Preparation

Mix the flour with sugar, yeast and salt. Then add the butter and mix well.

Pour in the water gradually until the dough forms. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes.

Grease a large bowl with butter and place the dough in it. Brush the top with some butter.

Cover the bowl and let it rest for 15 minutes.

To prepare the spinach filling:

Melt the butter over medium heat and fry the onions.

Add the spinach and fry. Add the spices and sauté for 2-3 minutes until well combined.

Sprinkle the work surface with flour and knead the dough.

Cut the dough into circles and spread one tablespoon of dough in the center of each dough.

Pinch in together 3 edges of the circle over the center of the filling. Seal down one side, then cross the other to form a pyramid shape.

Brush all the fatayer with melted butter before putting in the oven. Bake in the preheated at 180°C  oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden.
